PRF EZ Gel Injections Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

4 min read

Thank you for choosing Le Mon Aesthetics for your PRF EZ Gel treatment. Please review these instructions carefully before and after your appointment to help prepare for treatment, minimize avoidable bruising and swelling, and support a smooth recovery.

PRF EZ Gel is prepared from your own blood and administered by injection. As with any injectable treatment, temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising may occur.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

1. Stay Well Hydrated

Begin drinking adequate water 24–72 hours before your appointment to help prepare for the blood draw. Continue drinking water on the day of your treatment, unless you have been advised to restrict fluids for a medical reason.

2. Eat Before Your Appointment

Eat a normal meal before arriving. Do not come to your appointment on an empty stomach.

Avoid excessive alcohol consumption for at least 24–48 hours before treatment.

Limit excessive caffeine if it tends to cause dehydration or make you feel unwell.

3. Medications & Supplements

Certain medications and supplements may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding, including aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, garlic supplements, and turmeric or curcumin supplements.

Inform your provider about all prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements you take.

If you are taking prescription blood thinners, aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, or any other prescription medication, do not stop taking your medication without first consulting the prescribing healthcare professional.

4. Skincare Preparation

  • Avoid retinol, prescription tretinoin, exfoliating acids, and other potentially irritating topical products for approximately 3–5 days before treatment, or as directed by your provider.

  • Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and skincare products on the intended treatment areas.

  • Inform your provider about any recent cosmetic procedures, facial treatments, dental work, vaccinations, or changes in your health.

5. Medical History & Appointment Planning

Please inform your provider before treatment if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Have a blood or platelet disorder, a history of abnormal bleeding, or take anticoagulant medication.

  • Have an active infection, fever, skin infection, cold sore, or significant irritation near the intended treatment area.

  • Have an autoimmune condition, immune-system disorder, or other significant medical condition.

  • Have recently undergone facial surgery or another injectable or aesthetic procedure.

Your provider will determine whether treatment is appropriate and whether your appointment should be postponed.

Planning for an event: We recommend scheduling your treatment at least 2 weeks before an important event, photo shoot, or special occasion, as bruising and swelling may take time to resolve.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR TREATMENT

  • Arrive well hydrated and having eaten a meal.

  • Allow sufficient time for the consultation, blood draw, preparation of PRF EZ Gel, and injection procedure.

  • Follow your provider's instructions regarding cleansing and any topical numbing used.

  • Discuss your treatment goals and intended injection areas with your provider before the procedure.

  • Your provider will confirm the appropriate treatment areas and plan based on your individual needs and clinical assessment.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

1. Keep the Treated Area Clean

  • Avoid touching, washing rubbing, pressing, or massaging the treated areas for at least the first 24 hours to let the micro-channels seal safely.

  • Avoid applying skincare products, sunscreen or makeup to the injection sites for at least 24 hours.

  • When resuming skincare, use gentle, non-irritating products and avoid scrubbing or exfoliating the skin.

2. Manage Swelling & Bruising

Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising, or a feeling of fullness may occur following treatment. Temporary unevenness or firmness may also be noticeable as the treated area settles.

  • Apply a clean, cool compress intermittently if needed, following your provider's instructions. Do not apply ice directly to the skin or press firmly on the injection sites.

  • Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated on the first night, if comfortable.

  • Use acetaminophen (Tylenol) for discomfort only if it is medically appropriate for you and consistent with your provider's advice.

  • Contact your provider before taking aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or other medications that may affect bleeding or bruising. Do not discontinue prescribed medications without medical approval.

Bruising and swelling vary by individual and treatment area and may take several days or longer to resolve.

3. Avoid Strenuous Activity & Excessive Heat

For the first 24–48 hours, or as directed by your provider:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating.

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, hot yoga, and prolonged exposure to excessive heat.

  • Avoid alcohol if you are experiencing swelling or bruising.

4. Skincare & Sun Protection

  • Starting 24 Hours After Treatment: If the skin is intact and there is no unusual irritation, gently cleanse your face and resume gentle skincare. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 35 or higher sunscreen every morning. Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors, and after swimming or sweating.

  • For 2 Weeks: Minimize direct sun exposure and avoid tanning beds. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and seek shade when outdoors. Avoid facial massages, facials, chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, IPL, and other cosmetic procedures involving the treated areas.

  • For 3–5 Days: Avoid retinol, tretinoin, exfoliating acids, facial scrubs, and other potentially irritating skincare products. Resume these products gradually once the skin has recovered.
