Xeomin® toxin enters the nerve endings and inhibits the release of acetylcholine, effectively blocking the transmission of messages from the nerve cells that cause muscle contraction, thus relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, preventing the formation of new wrinkles, or smoothing and slimming the muscle tissue.

4 Key Steps

Step 1: The doctor determines the dose and location of the highly purified Xeomin toxin, taking into account the location and extent of the wrinkles, and applies the highly purified toxin to the area to be treated.

Step 2: Toxin enters the presynaptic nerve terminal cells and cleaves the presynaptic target protein SNAP25, which is necessary for the release of acetylcholine, preventing the release of acetylcholine.

Step 3: Botulinum toxin binds to the nerve fiber endings and continues to inhibit the release of acetylcholine, resulting in the loss of synaptic transmission of nerve signals, leaving the muscle in a relaxed state that is not susceptible to excessive movement.

Step 4: After relaxation, muscle tension is reduced, muscle fibers gradually shrink, no longer easy to pull the skin and produce expression and dynamic lines, but also can reduce muscle size to achieve the effect of thinning the face, thinning the calves or thinning the shoulders.​

• The 4-Hour Rule: Stay upright. Do not lie down, lean forward, or bend over for at least 4 hours. This ensures the Xeomin settles precisely in the targeted muscles and prevents unintended migration.

• Comfort Measures: You may apply a clean ice pack to the treated area to reduce minor swelling or any localized stinging sensation.

• Skincare & Makeup: You may apply makeup once any pinpoint bleeding has stopped and the skin has cooled. Please apply gentle, upward strokes to avoid putting downward pressure on the injection sites.

• Avoid strenuous exercise and high-intensity physical activity for at least 24 hours.

• Alcohol & Heat: To minimize bruising and swelling, please avoid alcohol for 3 days and refrain from saunas, steam rooms, or hot tubs for at least 1 week.

• Do not rub, massage, or apply firm pressure to the treated area for 2 weeks.

• Future Treatments: Please wait at least 2 weeks before scheduling any facials, chemical peels, or laser treatments.

To minimize the risk of bruising and ensure optimal results, please follow these guidelines:

• 7 Days Before: Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, including Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin), Vitamin E, Fish Oil, and St. John’s Wort. (Consult your physician before stopping prescribed medications).

• 24 Hours Before: Refrain from consuming alcohol and avoid smoking, as both can increase skin sensitivity and bruising.

• On the Day: Arrive with a clean face, free of heavy makeup if possible.

Before receiving injections, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including whether you:

1. have a condition that affects muscles and nerves (such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease], myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome)

2. have had any side effects from any other botulinum toxin in the past

3. have breathing problems such as asthma or emphysema
4. have swallowing problems or a history of aspiration of food or liquids into the lungs (aspiration)
5. bleeding problems
6. droopy eyelids
7. have plans for surgery
8. have had facial surgery
9. is pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known if XEOMIN will harm your unborn baby.

NOTE: Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if toxin passes into your breast milk.

• Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Talk to your doctor before taking any new medicines after receiving XEOMIN.

• Using XEOMIN with certain other medicines may cause serious side effects. Do not start any new medicines until you have told your doctor that you have received XEOMIN in the past. In particular, tell your doctor if you:

​1. Have received any other botulinum toxin product in the past four months

2. Have received botulinum toxin injections in the past, such as Lima Botulinum Toxin B (MYOBLOC), Botulinum Toxin A (Botulinum Toxin, Botox Cosmetics), and Botulinum Toxin Type A

3. (DYSPORT). Make sure your doctor knows exactly which product you are receiving.The dosage of XEOMIN may be different from other botulinum toxin products you have received. 
4. Recently received antibiotics via injection
5. Taking muscle relaxants
6. Allergy or cold medications
7. Taking sleeping pills

• If you are not sure if your medication is one of those listed above, talk to your doctor. Know what medications you take. Keep a list of your medications with you to show your doctor and pharmacist each time you get a new medication.

• Patients with severe mental abnormalities, severe allergies, psychological disorders, cardiovascular and other major organ diseases, myasthenia gravis, motor neuron degenerative disease, systemic or injection site infections, use of anticoagulant drugs, etc. must be evaluated cautiously by a physician; 

• If you are taking medication, pregnant or lactating, you should tell your doctor for his/her judgment.

• Allergic to pharmaceutical ingredients, severe muscle weakness is not recommended.

• If the skin of the area to be treated is allergic or inflamed, please apply the injection after the treatment is completed.

• Patients who under the age of 18 or incapacitated should be accompanied by their guardian and sign for the treatment.

• Those who are taking ginseng, fish oil, ginkgo, painkillers, aspirin, vitamin E, or other food and drugs that promote blood circulation and reduce blood clotting can still undergo the treatment, but the chance of bruising is slightly higher, but it does not affect the effect and safety.
