Pre-Procedure Instructions:

Following these steps for one week prior to your appointment minimizes the risk of bruising and swelling, ensuring the best outcome from your treatment.

1.Avoid Blood Thinners & Supplements (1 Week Prior):

  • STOP using Aspirin, NSAIDs (e.g., Advil, Aleve, Motrin), Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and any other essential fatty acids.

  • If you are on prescription blood thinners, consult with your primary physician before making any changes.

2.Avoid Alcohol (24 Hours Prior): Do not consume alcohol for twenty-four (24) hours before your procedure.

3.Avoid Irritating Treatments (1–2 Weeks Prior): Avoid scheduling Chemical Peels or Laser treatments near the planned injection area.

4.Eat Before Your Procedure: Please ensure you have eaten prior to your appointment.

The first 24 to 48 hours are crucial for filler stability and managing initial side effects.

Immediate Care & Restrictions (First 24–48 Hours):

  1. Strictly Avoid Pressure/Massage: Do not rub, stroke, or apply firm pressure to the treated area for at least 48 hours. Refraining from this prevents the filler from shifting before it stabilizes.

  2. Avoid Strenuous Activity: Avoid strenuous exercise, high-intensity training, lifting heavy weights, and intensive cardio for 24–48 hours as this increases blood flow and can exacerbate swelling or bruising. Light walking is acceptable.

  3. Skip Heat & Sun: Avoid sun/heat exposure (including tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms, and hot baths). UV light and excessive heat can cause swelling and irritation.

If going outdoors, use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen and a hat.

  4. Avoid Alcohol/Blood Thinners: Continue to avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and all blood-thinning supplements (listed above) for one week following your procedure.

Managing Swelling and Bruising:

  • Cold Compress: Apply a clothed cold pack or icepack to any swelling or bruising for 10–15 minutes a couple of hours at a time during the first day. DO NOT massage or press hard with the icepack.

  • Sleeping Position: For the first two nights, sleep with your head slightly elevated using extra pillows to minimize overnight swelling. Avoid lying on your face to prevent pressure on the treated areas.

  • Diet & Hydration: Stay well-hydrated (drink plenty of water) and avoid a high-salt or processed food intake, which can lead to increased swelling.

  • Camouflage: Minor bruising may occur. The appearance of any bruising or swelling can be minimized with the help of makeup, if desired.

  • Healing Timeline: Please note that one side may heal faster than the other.

Special Note:

  1. Long-Term Results: While immediate volume is visible, the full effect of Radiesse will develop over 1–2 weeks as the material is soaked into the skin and begins stimulating your body's natural collagen production.

  2. Initial Texture: If you notice small lumps or lumpiness, do not worry—this is often part of the process, and these areas typically settle over time.

  3. While side effects are usually mild, inform your injector in case you have:

Persistent pain or significant swelling that worsens over time

Signs of infection, such as warmth, redness, or pus at the injection site

Hard lumps that do not soften within two weeks

Difficulty breathing or severe allergic reactions (though rare)

  1. You should be able to return to work and normal, non-strenuous activities immediately following your procedure.
