Radiesse Filler

As with all injectables, Radiesse has some associated risks, like infection, as well as some side effects. The most common side effects of Radiesse treatment are not serious and typically resolve within a few days of the treatment. These include redness, swelling, bruising, injection site pain and tenderness, itching, numbness, and skin discoloration.

Radiesse injections can sometimes lead to the formation of lumps and bumps, known as nodules, which often appear as palpable masses under the skin. These nodules can persist for several months and, in some cases, require medical intervention if they do not resolve on their own​.

Radiesse can also cause the following rare but serious side effects:

1. Granulomas: These localized nodules can form under the skin in the days, weeks, or months following injection and may require medical attention. 

2. Allergic reactions: Although uncommon, some individuals may experience allergic reactions to the filler.

3. Vascular occlusion: When inadvertently injected into a blood vessel, Radiesse can cause a potentially serious complication called a vascular occlusion, which can lead to severe complications such as skin necrosis, vision impairment, or stroke.

1. Some lift and fullness will be immediate, while longer-term volume from collagen stimulation may be visible in as little as 4 weeks. For optimal results, FACE recommends 3 sessions over the course of 3-4 months, with final results 6 months after your final treatment. ​

2. One of the benefits of Radiesse, especially when compared to other biostuimulatory fillers, is that you will see some immediate changes. The gel carrier that houses the calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres provides instant lift and fullness. As the CaHA stimulates collagen regrowth, your results will continue to improve over time, with complete results visible 6 months following your final session.  

​In most clinical trials, Radiesse lasts around 12 months. Some studies have reported results with longevity between 12 and 18 months, with the longest being up to 24 months. and the lowest being 6 months. These variations are likely due to the subjective criteria used to determine the life of the product.
